Queen in a Dress

Queen in a Dress was founded by Nakeya Green whose sole mission is “To change lives one dress at a time!” It was started to continue the legacy of the founding member’s Mother, Yolanda Green, who passed away from Cancer. The founding member’s Mother, Yolanda, always believed in lifting up others within her community no matter what she dealt with. When Nakeya’s mother passed away she turned the pain of losing her Mom into purpose and Queen in a Dress was born.

So Much More than a Dress: Uplifting Lives, Empowering Futures

We want everyone to be treated like royalty no matter their economic status or lack there of. We provide free Prom and School dance attire for anyone ages 8-20 years old. Our annual event serves as a one stop shop as we also provide shoes, jewelry and new makeup. High School Seniors who find a dress at the event are entered into a raffle for free Prom ticket cost and those who are College bound are entered into the raffle for “College Success Baskets” filled with dorm room linens, school supplies, laundry supplies, gift cards and cleaning supplies.

Beyond the Dress

At Queen in a Dress, we believe every young woman deserves to feel confident and beautiful, but we do so much more than provide a dress as we want to uplift all those we encounter for the success of their future. We house and store all items year round in three storage units (supported by donations) to keep all inventory left over so nothing goes to waste. We would love to have your donations whether material items or monetary to help us to further enrich the needs of so many communities!
